Recently-perpetually-embattled Disney chief Michael Eisner surrendered his board seat earlier than expected, which with the recent events of the company, wasn’t totally unexpected.

Disney announced it on Sept. 30, the same day Eisner also handed the reins to his successor, Bob Iger, in a way that would have appealed to Scrooge McDuck.

It was an interesting time in power for Eisner, who is largely credited for navigating Disney from rough waters to brisk growth. Sadly, Wall Street’s attention span is shorter than a child with ADHD, and when topped with criticisms for his management style and very public conflicts with ex protégés, it is quite the accomplishment he lasted this long.

Eisner was expected to leave on the board’s annual meeting in 2006, but with rapid changes underway, the kingdom that Mickey Mouse built seems more in tune with the impatience of its audience.
