Corporate “Bozosity” On the Rise: Taking the GBAT
by Webnik (Posted 03-02-2006 05:43 AM) [View Discussion | Join Discussion | Rate Thread ]

In an age when more and more formerly virtuous terms have become dirty buzzwords, it’s good to see someone separate the grain from the chaff.

Not that it was ever low to begin with, but you'd think that after the dotcom meltdown not too long ago, people would have learned something. Guy Kawasaki’s Bozosity Aptitude Test (GBAT) is a nice reminder of how all those buzzwords and nonessential noise around a company's operation tends to get your mind off the important things.

Does your company spend a lot of time in niceties like the cool cafeteria or off-office retreats than in listening to customers? Does your company have more than two executives with the word “chief” in their title? Does the company’s swag swell like a fountain with all those pens, bags, notepads, umbrellas and more bags?

Its reminiscent of how the first dot-com bubble was like, and sometimes, these things just go in circles as people keep re-learning things over and over again, with hindsight being mixed with all that aforementioned noise about the goodies that a company starts losing touch of what they’re about.

Go ahead, take the GBAT.
