Alan Greenspan To Be Replaced ASAP

Is it time for the Fed Chief to be hidden away in the attic?

In the rash of nominations for the UN Ambassador, a couple of seats for the Supreme Court, and who knows, maybe even a porn czar-- President Bush and his white house posse is looking for a successor to Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, who is to end his 18-year tenure on Jan. 31.

What's interesting about the announcement is the addition of the "as soon as possible" phrase like there was no tomorrow. In fact the press circles have been abuzz that Bush might act as early as this month to select a Chairman to ease the transition.

With his superlative handling of the Federal Reserve, one would think Alan would live and stay in power forever. Now it's immiment he's going to be out soon. It still remains to be seen however, if he just might pull off the 'living forever' part.
