The First Chessboxing Fight in France

At Saturday night in Nantes at 21:00 more then a thousand people were very excited about the first chessboxing fight ever in France, about to take place at the Utiopales Festival. The WCBO worked closely together with Cyril Cavalié, the Utiopales and the Maison d'Ailleurs.

For the WCBO this was a good chanche to test one of its new and still very young chessboxers from Polen.

For the first time Pawel Dziubiński entered the ring for a chessboxing fight. He is only 20 years old and studies law in Lublin in Poland. He weighs 96 kg. This year he became Polish champion in arm wrestling. He has an Elo Rating of 2006 and used to box at younger age.

His opponent was none less then 'Anti Terror' Frank Stoldt, the riot policeman from Berlin Germany. He weighs 86 kg, and he is one of the contenders for the heavyweight world championship in chessboxing. He won 28 of his 30 boxing fights and has an estimated Elo Rating of 1900.

The demonstration fight was set for 11 rounds - 6 rounds of chess and 5 rounds of boxing. Pawel played white and played a freestyle queens gambit. As always Frank played very solid. Even after the first few boxing rounds he made no or only very little mistakes.
